Info for New Renters

Please be advised that it takes a minimum of 24 hours to process and approve a new renter's application.

Welcome to Professional Photo Resources, the South's premier photo and lighting specialists. We rent a wide variety of photo, lighting, and grip equipment for every need. Before you rent, here are the answers to a few questions you might have.

A rental application form has to be on file before any equipment can be reserved. Since it takes 24 hours to process a registration for a new renter, the form must be submitted at least a day in advance. We can not accept registrations on a walk-in basis.

We require a deposit on all rental equipment
. The deposits, as well as the rental pricing, are listed on our equipment rental page of our web site. The deposit can be left in one of three forms:

  • A credit card preauthorization. This puts a credit hold equal to the deposit on your credit card. Please note, this can only be done with a credit card, not a check or debit card, due to banking regulations. If you choose this method, please check with your bank in advance to make sure you have available credit for this. Your bank will release the credit hold, not PPR after the merchandise is returned. Please check with your bank to see how they handle this, your credit could be tied up for a full billing cycle, depending on your credit provider.

  • A local Georgia check. This can be used for any rental whose deposit value is less than $10,000. You simply write us a check for the amount of the deposit. We hold the check until you return the merchandise. This is by far the easiest method, and the method used by the majority of our customers. In order to use this method, you will need to be a Georgia resident with an Georgia driver's license. Also, the address on the check must match the address on the license. If it does not, you will have to use one of the other deposit methods. We cannot accept "counter" or "starter" checks for either deposits or to pay for rentals.

  • A Certificate of Insurance. This is a policy issued by your insurance company insuring PPR against loss or damage to our rental equipment. Check with your insurance carrier to see if they offer this service. You will need a business policy in order to obtain this, if you have homeowner's or renter's insurance you'll have to use one of the other deposit methods. If you do not have business insurance, you can check with your insurer, or check out links page for insurers who specialize in photographers. Click here for a PDF sample of a certificate of insurance.

Our minimum rental is for 24 hours. We do offer an extended day rental if the equipment is picked up after 3pm the day before your shoot day and returned before 10am on the day following your one day shoot. We also offer a 3-day rental. We offer a discounted 7-day rental, a 10-day rental and a Monthly rental. These special times are only available on scheduled rentals that have been prepaid at the time the rental is picked up. Late returns are charged the minimum rate for every 24 hour period thay are tardy.

Rentals reserved and not picked up will be charged a one-day rental rate. Rentals cancelled longer that 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time will not be charged a cancellation fee. Reservations cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup will be charged a one-day rental rate. Items dropped from a reservation are treated the same as if the whole rental was cancelled. (e.g. dropping a lens from a rental at the time of pickup, you will still be charged for that lens since it is less than 24 hours).

We have to keep a closer rein on rental equipment in order to assure that it is available for the times when you need it. While we have many of some items, others we may only have a couple, a reservation is the best way to insure that you can get what you need when you need it. We encourage you to make a reservation as soon as you know the date that you will need the equipment, but we recommend that you are sure about what you need before you reserve it. If we do not have a payment method or you do not supply us with one to pay the cancellation fee or the no show fee, you will not be permitted to rent or even reserve equipment until the outstanding fees are completely resolved.

Rental items returned incomplete are not considered returned until all parts or components are returned (e.g. lens caps and hoods, cables, manuals, chargers, etc.). We do not have extra chargers, manuals, or lens hoods to make an item rentable, so it is considered no rentable until all parts are complete. The rented item will be hcarged a 1-day rate per 24 hour period until it is returned.

Before you can make a reservation, you’ll need to fill out and sign both pages of our two page Rental Application form, which can be accessed by clicking here. If you have trouble viewing this document, go to Adobe's web site by clicking the following link and make sure you have a current version of their free Acrobat Reader program. Please fill out both pages of the form, sign it, and fax it to 404-885-9706. Applications must be signed, unsigned applications will be discarded. Due to heavy work loads, any applications recieved after 12 o'clock on Friday will not be processed until the following business day, which would be the following Monday, please get you application in early to guarantee that your rental will be processed on time. We value your privacy, all the information on this form will be kept in-house and confidential, we will never sell or disclose your personal information to any outside party. Or, you can scan document into a PDF format, and email it to rental@ppratlanta.com. After faxing or e-mailing your application, please call us to make sure that it was received, as faxes and e-mails aren't always 100% reliable.
